Description:

The Software Development Manager is responsible for leading a team of software engineers and managing the full development life cycle for a number of products or solutions.

He or she is expected to “push the envelope” in terms of delivering innovative technical solutions. This includes designing and implementing complex enterprise systems, primarily involving Oracle technologies including C++, J2EE, Service Oriented Architecture and the Oracle Database.

The Software Development Manager is responsible for consulting with stakeholders to review project requirements, determining the technical approach for accomplishing projects, defining the skill and staffing requirements and allocation of resources, and working with Architecture and Product Management teams in order to improve project delivery.

The Software Development Manager also:

Drives cross-team and global projects and initiatives, manage TL’s to deliver projects in accordance with scope and plan, including identifying issues and working them through closure
Monitors and controls risk and quality of the development group
Conducts formal employee evaluations and performance reviews

5+ years Management / Team Lead experience
Managing the Development Group
Managing day-to-day development activities, tasks, planning and progress
Developing processes, guidelines and procedures
Building and constructing the group of developers/TL
Examining, evaluating, and assessing the impact of potential changes in the project tasks against Project Managers and Delivery manager
Monitoring and controlling progress and risks
Constantly evaluating ways to improve the skill set of the group. That can be through the use of a new tools or techniques, or additional training on fundamental skills that group already knows but doesn't execute consistently.
Providing accurate project task sizing, risks, assumptions and dependencies

Relevant academic background: Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent degree (BSc/Msc)
Successful track-record for delivering projects in a global environment with a preferred background in enterprise products
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Able to influence at all levels and across geography, with well-developed persuasive arguments
Self-driven and self-motivated, can-do attitude
Critical thinking and decision making skills
Results oriented, able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Able to work under pressure and meet deadline requirements, complementing a proactive and flexible approach with a resilient and results oriented nature
Strong interpersonal skills
