The Red Hat Engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive the direction, design and implementation of our industry-leading technology. In this role, you will work with some of the brightest engineers in the open source community to create innovative solutions for the next generation. As a Software Engineer, you will work in our virtual storage group, focusing on Red Hat's Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) product and its open source counterpart, oVirt.

Development and maintenance of Java and Python components responsible for storage management
Respond to Requests for Enhancements (RFE) from upstream communities or customers by developing new features for assigned packages
Learn to work with the oVirt upstream community to be able to respond to bugs and development needs; cooperate with upstream developers and users
Use your Java and Python programming skills to develop new features and patches
University degree in computer science (or related field), or equivalent working experience
3+ years of significant software development experience
Experience in several programming languages user space, kernel C development, Java, or Python
Experience solving synchronization problems
Familiarity with Linux file systems or block storage subsystems is an advantage
Storage programming experience (knowledge of SCSI, iSCSI, FCP, file systems, multipathing etc.) is an advantage
Passion for or interest in open source development
Intermediate written and spoken English skills
