Position: Director of Software Engineering

Description:

F5 Networks seeks a passionate, technically-minded leader to execute the vision for the company’s for Application Security. The successful candidate will manage multiple managers owning various development teams, drive the development process for prompt execution and quality, and deliver best of breed products.

Drive full product lifecycle:
Participate in functional requirements definition and feature planning.
Work with managers, architects and lead engineers to come up with appropriate designs and architectures.
Manage the development teams to efficiently execute per requirements on schedule, make sure engineers are focused and executing per requirements and design.
Engage with customers to investigate new opportunities and solicit feedback for product improvement.
Liaise with other teams in the organization.
Preserve F5 company’s culture and maintain an encouraging work environment.
Hire qualified engineers and managers.
Provide transparency and work closely with management.
Own integration with other teams.

BSc or higher in computer sciences or equivalent.
Proven experience driving complex SW development efforts in small and fast paced organizations, with an understanding of the trade-offs that must be made to ensure timeliness and quality.
Proven record of building and scaling quality teams to deliver successful products.
Strong SW engineering and design skills with an eye for details.
Strong management skills and the ability to lead and motivate engineers.
Interpersonal skills that foster collaboration between people and teams.
Familiarity with Application Security is a plus.
Deep understanding of networking.
Passion for learning new technologies, and a track record of doing so.
